COMPETENCIES:
The qualifications for this position include but are not limited to:
- Review and accurately code medical procedures, diagnoses, and services using ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS Level II codes.
- Ensure compliance with current healthcare regulations and guidelines related to medical coding and billing.
- Verify Patient benefits and insurance coverage, obtain necessary authorizations, and submit claims to insurance providers.
- Resolve coding-related denials and appeals, working closely with insurance companies to rectify discrepancies.
- Stay updated on changes in coding regulations and guidelines to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and internal staff to obtain necessary documentation for coding and billing purposes.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide training and support to staff on coding and billing-related maters.
- Communicate with patients and providers via email and phone calls.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification from a recognized coding program (e.g., CPC, CCS-P) is a plus!
- Relevant medical billing/coding knowledge is valued but not required. We provide training!
- Self-started with a demonstrated ability to learn and apply complex concepts to their daily work.
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to learn software systems are required.
- Ability to develop strong connections with our patients, communicating with warmth and empathy.
- Strong oral and writen communication skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Must have positive internal customer service attitude and be a team player.
