Comprehensive Eye Care
At Mittleman Eye, we perform routine eye exams to detect vision changes and disorders as early as possible in order to provide the best possible treatment. We use a wide variety of tests and procedures to examine your eyes. Proper eye care and evaluations can help prevent vision loss. Comprehensive eye exams can also detect diabetes, hypertension, retinal holes or tears, and other important treatable medical conditions.
Laser Cataract Surgery/ Implantable Lenses
Today’s cataract surgery technology offers you the option to correct additional eye conditions. We offer standard toric lenses as well as the latest lenses like Crystalens, Trulign, and Symfony Lens.
With a higher level of accuracy than manual cataract surgery, the LenSx® Laser System can provide a surgical experience customized for your eye during procedures involving any of the advanced technology lenses that we offer.
Refractive Lens Exchange
Refractive lens exchange, or RLE, is a surgical procedure that replaces the eye’s natural lens with an artificial intraocular lens to improve vision. RLE is nearly the same as cataract surgery, except that the eye’s crystalline lens is clear rather than cloudy.
Glaucoma Treatment
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of vision loss, and involves progressive and irreversible damage to the optic nerve, which carries information from the eye to the brain. Treatment can involve glaucoma surgery, lasers or medication, depending on the severity. Eye drops with medication aimed at lowering IOP usually are tried first to control glaucoma.
Vision Exams
Vision examinations are an important part of preventive health care. Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms, so you might not know a problem exists. Early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems can help prevent vision loss.
Retina Treatment
The retina is the light-sensitive layer of tissue that lines the inside of the eye and sends visual messages through the optic nerve to the brain. When the retina detaches, it is lifted or pulled from its normal position. If not promptly treated, retinal detachment can cause permanent vision loss.
In some cases there may be small areas of the retina that are torn. These areas, called retinal tears or retinal breaks, can lead to retinal detachment.
Diabetic Retinopathy
Millions of Americans each year face vision loss related to diabetes. People with diabetes are at risk for diabetic retinopathy, cataract and glaucoma. Diabetic retinopathy is the most common diabetic eye disease and a leading cause of blindness in American adults. It is caused by changes in the blood vessels of the retina.

Oculoplastics
Oculoplastic surgery is a general term used to represent a variety of procedures that involve the orbit, eyelids, tear ducts, and the face. Ocular reconstructive surgery, aesthetic eyelid surgery, facial plastic surgery, and cosmetic procedures fall into this category.
Some types of oculoplastic surgery are considered both medically necessary and cosmetic. For instance, certain eyelid and periocular issues can affect a person’s appearance as well as their vision, eye comfort, and eye health.
